Embedding strategy across global employee base
AVEVA is a global leader in industrial software with over 6,500 employees. It approached Verity London to help maximise continued roll out and communications of its group strategy. The strategy team was particularly keen to ensure that all employees were able to connect with the strategy’s four key pillars, and to develop a clear understanding of what the pillars mean in practice for the business, each function and for everyone as individuals. It was vital that the entire company felt inspired by the strategic vision and ambition, with senior leadership equipped and empowered to cascade the strategy in a compelling, engaging and consistent way.
- 94% of senior leaders or their designated reports became active users on the Leaders’ Forum, attributed to the content and timing of posting
- 85% of the global business has now meaningfully engaged with the strategy. This has included them partaking in an initial workshop and discussion with their senior managers
- Latest employee survey has shown increased levels of understanding as the comms process was working well
To embed the strategy, we had to ensure we had both breadth and depth of insight into how best to communicate messaging across the business. We also knew we needed senior leaders to be informed and armed with the right resources, tools and content to be able to share the narrative with their people, and feedback on success. Due to the complexity and global scale, we recommended a three phased programme: first to help employees at all levels to connect and engage with the strategy, followed by phases to further embed and then maintain momentum. Inform, Inspire and Activate.
We partnered with AVEVA to provide strategic advisory and creative ideas and execution. We adopted an agile approach to ensure all feedback around the strategy roll out was reflected in real time.
We recommended a dedicated Teams channel be set-up to provide leaders with practical information, guidance and resources.
Some of the most useful content we produced included a Global Digital Toolkit, with clear recommendations for leaders around how best to cascade and communicate the strategy, and a visual representation of the ‘Strategy on a Page’ which could be filled in by each of the functions.
The communications cascade was tracked and measured at every stage.
